NYC Compost App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy for Big Belly Solar, Inc. (“Bigbelly”, “we”, “us”, “our”) describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and/or share (“process”) information when you use our services (“Services”) such as when you download and use our mobile application (“NYC Compost App”, “NYC Compost”, “App”).

What personal information do we process? When you visit, use, or navigate our Services, we process personal information depending on how you interact with our Services.

The NYC Compost App specifically may collect the following information if you choose to provide us with access or permission:

Geolocation Information. This information is used locally on your device, it is not transmitted from your device to our Services, or retained by us, but may be transmitted and retained by Google as part of their mapping service.

Mobile Device Access. We request access to Bluetooth services on your device to allow operation with Bigbelly Smart Compost Bins. Bluetooth on your device operates only while the App is active in the foreground, and is in receive only mode unless you tap the ‘Unlock Bin’ button within the App, at which time a Unique Identifier, as well as other necessary information to perform the transaction, is exchanged with a Bigbelly Smart Compost Bin.

Unique Identifier. On first launch of the NYC Compost App our Services will assign a unique identifier which is retained by your device and used to access Bigbelly Smart Compost Bins. This identifier is a random unique value used for statistical purposes, it is not tied to you, or your device specifically, and may be re-generated by you by either re-installing the App or deleting App data on your phone.

Mobile Device Data. We may automatically collect and retain information — such as mobile phone operating system, version information, browser type, and IP address — when you access our Services via the NYC Compost App.

We do not collect or process any sensitive personal information, such as name, address, date of birth, identification numbers, or financial information.

Why do we process your information? We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, and to comply with law. We will only process your information when we have a valid legal reason to do so.

Do we share your information? We share statistical and operational information with New York City, and New York City Department of Sanitation, we do not share, sell, or trade information with other parties.

Do we use cookies and other tracking technologies?

We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to access or store information.

Please note our website and NYC Compost App may include hyperlinks to other websites neither owned nor managed by us. Bigbelly does not review the privacy policies of these third-party websites. We cannot guarantee the privacy of any information that may be obtained by third parties at these other websites. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of any website you visit before supplying Personal Information through that website.
