Mechanical Engineer

Mechanical Engineer

Position Description:

Bigbelly, Inc. is looking for a creative, self-starting mechanical engineer who is excited to work in our Needham HQ as part of a small but dedicated group of engineers. We are looking someone with experience in design for manufacturing on products using sheet metal and molded plastics. 

You will be working on new product development and improvements to current product lines. Work will include interfacing with a Tier 1 manufacturing partner on product launches and continuous improvement. In this role you will work with senior members of the team to evaluate new manufacturing processes, redesign parts for more efficient manufacturing and develop new products in a cost effective way. You will work hands on to prototype and test new ideas. 

Bigbelly has an exciting development roadmap and you will also get to work on new station capabilities that go far beyond waste management as Bigbelly becomes a digital media platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive cost reduction through new designs and new manufacturing techniques
  • Lead product development projects from concept to detailed design to tested prototypes to production launch
  • Increase product reliability by diagnosing problems and designing robust solutions
  • Improve manufacturing documentation through collaborative effort with Tier 1 manufacturing partner.

Front End Developer

Front End Developer

Position Description:

Bigbelly is looking for an energetic team player, with an eye for visual design and user experience, to join its small team of software engineers as a lead front end developer working on products that enable our customers to save time, money, and make a positive impact on the environment.

You’ll need to have strong development experience, as well as the ability to develop prototypes and storyboards, to take a wide range of concepts in order to distill them into simple but effective user interfaces which you will be responsible for designing and implementing.

You’ll join a company where everyone, including you, is knowledgeable of the full range of Bigbelly’s products and philosophy, as well as encouraged to form and share opinions about those products, their use, and best practices to help set the direction for the future.  As part of the software team, you’ll be working with internal product owners, and others, to produce innovative, world-class, software used 24/7 by a wide range of users around the globe.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop the current UI written with Javascript, Bootstrap, CSS, jQuery, and HTML5

Field Service Technician (FST)

Field Service Technician (FST)

Position Description:

The FST will perform installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds of solar compacting waste receptacles. Work will be performed on location in outdoor public locations as well as in the service center facility. Travel to location is required and will be predominantly but not limited to the northeastern US. Interaction with the customer and the repair and maintenance agents of the customer will be required to train, advise, assist and respond to questions and concerns. Obtaining expertise about the features, benefits and maintenance requirements of the product through provided training and independent research is required.

The FST will become qualified to make recommendations to the customer and company about customer purchase needs and opportunities. Supervisory duties will be required when additional labor is used to complete services. Work duties will be a combination of in-field services, in-office customer support, in-person customer support and training, service center repair and refurbishment activities. Schedule will be set by supervisor and will include both planned schedule and ad hoc activities. Flexibility of daily start and end times required based on customer availability and individual project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs and repairs equipment at exterior public and private space customer locations.
  • Inspection of assembled equipment, to ensure proper installation.
  • Inspection of installed unit to ensure proper functionality and operation.
  • Tune, clean and troubleshoot equipment for proper operation.
  • Assemble, align, and install equipment as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, and assist in establishing preventative maintenance schedules with customer.
  • Identify, analyze, and repair product failures, order and replaces parts as needed.
  • Professionally and effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Uses web based software applications to access and log service details.
  • Determine and recommend which products or services best fit the customers’ needs.
  • Provide phone and web based technical support to internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent listening skills and ability to communicate effectively in person, by email and by phone.
  • 3 years of experience in one, or a combination of, the following areas: field service, mechanics or machinery repair, customer support and/or technical support role.
  • A technical aptitude and ability to follow verbal and written technical instruction.
  • Ability to accurately communicate verbal and written technical information.
  • Eagerness to learn and understand nuances of product design and operation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and on multiple tasks.
  • Able to determine tools and equipment required to perform scope of job.
  • Experience with basic hand and assembly tools such as drills, drivers and rivet drivers.
  • Must be able to stand, bend and squat for extended periods to access installed machinery.
  • Requires heavy lifting and maneuvering of machines with the aid of hand trucks.
  • Requires outdoor work in most weather conditions.
  • Proficient in MS Office and basic web applications usage.
  • Experience with assembly and troubleshooting of machinery.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Must be qualified to drive a rented vehicle.
  • Daily Regional Travel (northeast driving) expectation is roughly 60%.
  • Air travel and overnight stays of 1 to 5 nights will be required, estimated at 10%-25%.

Regional Sales Manager - Southwest (LA area based)

Regional Sales Manager – Southwest (LA area based)

Position Description:

Primary responsibility is sales and account management of strategic accounts and targeted business development in the US-South West territory, based in LA area.  Success in this role will require outside sales of Bigbelly Smart City solutions and territory management experience in addition to being an independent self-starter.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a combination of thoughtful sales strategy, creative planning, and aggressive engagement across the stakeholders of target account list. An ambitious mentality and the ability to be focused, organized, and flexible in a changing environment are critical.  This is a high-intensity position, with growth potential, reporting to the Regional Director of Sales – West US. The role will ‘call high’ and all other needed levels and interface with some of the largest cities, colleges and some companies in the south/west United States, building a high value pipeline of sales opportunities. Role will require travel within the Southern CA territory primarily and some surrounding states occasionally.   Trips to HQ in MA as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Focused Account Management of assigned accounts in territory
  • Bigbelly fleet “Deployment Reviews” with proprietary CLEAN Software Demonstrations to executive levels and mid levels.
  • New Business development and SFDC pipeline creation from existing customers and new prospects.
  • Outbound calling/mailing to target accounts/lists
  • In territory, in-person sales calls, account planning and forecast management
  • HQ Marketing campaigns follow-up
  • Other projects as assigned in support of the Sales and Marketing organization
  • RFP, Contract and proposal development.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years + of sales/account management experience exceeding sales targets

Sales Support Specialist

Position Description:

The Sales Operations Specialist will be responsible for supporting Sales, spanning all business segments in our International and Domestic Sales group, by providing assistance to effectively service current and potential customers. This role is responsible for being a Subject Matter Expert in relationship management, on-boarding support of customers and carriers, and continued management of the daily needs of both the customer and sales team related to the order to cash process. This can include anything from invoice issues to assistance in providing the end-product to the customer. The candidate will also have ad-hoc responsibilities for improving processes and metrics across the company to drive business line results. The Sales Operations Specialist will receive information from Sales employees, suppliers, and dispatch to find solutions to improve operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate will need to be a problem solver and provide solutions that drive best business practices and bottom line results. Candidate will work closely with Sales, Customers, Suppliers, Transportation and Billing teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Support throughout sales processes; pre-order, order processing, and post-order documents
  • Issue quotations for hardware and software
  • Generate part estimates and orders
  • Send out shipping information and delegate on-boarding tasks
